Why a Mentor Program?
The purpose NAPO-Ohio’s Mentor Program is to promote increased professionalism in the Professional Organizing Community by providing a one-on-one opportunity for prospective, new, and practicing professional organizers to obtain support, guidance and assistance from a veteran organizer.
Overview
NAPO-OH Mentors have met specified qualifications and are committed to supporting you in growing your business. The mentoring relationship will be co-designed by you and your Mentor, and personalized to meet your particular needs. Mentoring sessions and fee schedules are set by the individual Mentor in agreement with you, the Mentee.
Your Mentor will …
- Give you a safe place to ask questions
- Support you with biz start-up or transition
- Encourage and inspire you to take action
- Share industry knowledge and expertise
- Provide honest feedback and constructive criticism
- Listen and discern roadblocks holding you back
- Challenge you to step outside your comfort zone
- Serve as a role model
Interviewing checklist …
- What type of role model is this person?
- Will they challenge me?
- Do they have the knowledge and expertise I need?
- Are they a good fit between what I desire to learn and what they have to share?
- Can they provide encourage and honest feedback?
- Do their hours of availability work for me?
- Do they have the ability to listen and willingness to mentor?
- Are we compatible in temperament and personality?
- How comfortable will I feel learning with this person?
NOTE: Individual Mentors are not specifically endorsed by NAPO-Ohio, but have met all requirements under NAPO-OH Mentor Guidelines, adopted 3/9/2011.
